Tours of the sites are very limited and available only by special appointment and WILL is very excited to have scheduled two days in which participants will not only have a guided tour of the site, but will have the opportunity to eat a campfire dinner at the site, hear stories about the site around the campfire, and to converse with university students who are studying the site. Participants on June 21 (Section A) will meet at the site at noon and will have the option to stay for the campfire. Participants on June 22 (Section B) are welcome to join this campfire experience on June 21, and will reconvene at the site at 9:00 the next morning (the site is only about 30 minutes from Silver City). This workshop explores what it means to "let go" and to "be complete" as a vehicle for living a life of simplicity and intention. We will discuss what this means for each of us, what it takes to bring it about, and what practices or habits facilitate the process. Finally, each participant will have an opportunity to design his or her own "Completion Project."

10) Bats of Grant County
Bats have long been known to roost in mines; both active and inactive underground workings are documented as receiving use for roosting during different seasons of the year. However, what happens when the picks, jacklegs, and rails fall silent? With over 25 species of bats in the US that regularly spend some portion of time underground, the abandoned workings of yesterday have become exceptionally important roosting habitat for the bats of today. With increased pressures in natural habitats of all types, the artificial roosts inadvertently created by the mining activities of decades past now provide critical roosting habitat for millions of bats across the western US. From shafts to stopes, adits to crosscuts, bats live in and utilize all types of underground workings for many parts of their life cycle.
